Nalbandian drops out of Swiss Indoors

Andy Roddick and Roger Federer set up a blockbuster semifinal clash in Swiss Indoors in Basel with easy wins on Friday, November 5, by defeating David Nalbandian and Radek Stepanek respectively.

Roddick fired 11 aces without double-faulting, lost a mere nine points in 10 service games, and never faced a break point as he cruised past Nalbandian in the quarterfinals. The ninth-ranked American needed just one hour and 14 minutes to set up a semifinal showdown with Roger Federer.

One break early in the first set was easily enough for Roddick, who struck seven of his 11 aces in the opening frame of play. After serving it out at 5-4, Basel's No. 4 seed converted another break in the third game of set two. From there it was all over as Nalbandian never came close to getting back on serve. The Argentine wrapped up his effort with five aces and two double-faults, tennistalk.com reported.
