The Russian governmental commission dealing with issues of restoration of rail communication between Georgia and Russia lately passed a decision to asses the Abkhazian strip of the Transcaucasian railway, specifically, the Posu-Inguri section. Thereupon the Georgian foreign ministry yesterday stated that unilateral actions of the Russian party are contrary to the Sochi arrangements between the presidents of Russia and Georgia and cast doubt on the expediency of continuing bilateral talks on the issue, really threatening implementation of the agreements achieved. Tbilisi has specified that according to the arrangements agreed upon, a joint Georgian-Russian expert group should have been formed with participation of the Abkhazian party for preliminarily researching the Vesyoloe-Samtredia section. It should be reminded that according to the results of a sociological survey held by US International Republican Institute, the majority of Georgian citizens support the resumption of rail communication with Russia.
