The International Federation of Football History and Statistics (IFFHS) named Shakhtar Donetsk, where Armenian midfielder Henrik Mkhitaryan plays, as the Most Improved Team over the period 2001 to 2010.
"Usually, after compiling ratings and revealing the results, the award ceremony took place at the beginning of the next year. I would also like to stress that earlier there was not nomination for the most improved team. In this regard,” commented Igor Goldes, the member of IFFHS executive committee in CIS.
”Shakhtar are the first to claim the award. Previously, the ceremony was held in Spain, Germany or Austria, but it’s still not known where it will be conducted this year. Options are being considered,” he said, Shakhtar said on its website.
