The US will set about realization of a project of providing new financial assistance to Armenia. As reported by “Arka” agency, US ambassador to Armenia John Ordway said. In his words, president George W. Bush has suggested the US Congress the Millenium Challenge Account – a program for contribution to developing countries, within the framework of which the US aid to countries with low income rate increases $5 billion before 2006. The ambassador reported countries, which had made most progress in implementing economic and democratic reforms, will get the assistance on the competitive basis. With that purpose, in J. Ordway’s words, a special US commission will thoroughly analyze such indices in those countries, as press freedom, struggle against corruption, free election and others. In J. Ordway’s words, the countries will be determined within 1-2 years.
