IN CASE OF AVAILABILITY OF ADEQUATE AUTHORITY NATO CAN ENTER KARABAKH SETTLEMENT

The NATO can undertake efforts to settle the conflict in Nagorno Karabakh, if the UN and OSCE endow the alliance with adequate authority. Commander of NATO joint forces in south-eastern Europe army general Oktar Ataman (Turkey) said in Baku in the course of a meeting with Azeri Milli Mejlis speaker Murtuz Aleskerov. As reported by “Novosti” Russian agency, the commander noted it was important to find a solution to the conflict within political approaches, without a new confrontation between the parties. In his turn the Azeri parliament speaker noted the NATO should be active in the settlement of the Nagorno Karabakh conflict and assist in its peaceful solution on the basis of principles and norms of the international law.
