Azerbaijan is not going to join the “3+3” format regional security system proposed by Teheran (Russia-Iran-Turkey plus Azerbaijan-Georgia-Armenia). Chief of foreign relations department of the Azeri president’s administration Novruz Mamedov stated. In his words, “Azerbaijan solves the problem on the basis of bilateral and multilateral relations, as well as in cooperation with international organizations.” Mamedov noted, in the sphere of security Azerbaijan bilaterally cooperated with Iran. Let us remind that in the course of his recent visit to the South Caucasian countries Iranian foreign minister Kamal Kharrazi made a proposal to create a regional security system in “3+3” format. As noted by “Interfax” agency, Baku has not yet joined treaties on collective security due to the continuing conflict with Armenia.
