13.09.2000, MEDIAMAX, YEREVAN. “We are concerned about the attempts to consider the so-called Genocide of Armenians in the U.S. Congress”, the foreign minister of Turkey Ismail Cem said, as Anatolian News Agency reports. He was quoted as saying that the Turkish government and press do their utmost to prevent the “negative development of events”. At the same time Cem admitted that despite of it “a new period, more difficult for us, starts now”.
Ismail Cem noted that Armenians are also trying to press on the French Senate, and to raise the question in Spain and Italy as well. The foreign minister of Turkey said the presidents of the USA and France have repeatedly said they are against the recognizing of the Genocide of Armenians. -0-
