Baku is swiftly becoming cluttered with monuments, museums and a mausoleum devoted to ex-president of Azerbaijan Heydar Aliyev buried Monday. The incredible speed, with which the projects of those monumental constructions appear, evidences that all of them were prepared beforehand, “Nezavisimaya Gazeta” Moscow newspaper writes. A monument and a mausoleum to H. Aliyev will be established in the Honorary Burial Alley, the opening of which is planned to be held the day of the death next year, i.e. December 12, 2004. However, the “main” 15-meter monument to Aliyev Sr. will be erected in the Alley of Shahids, where those killed in the Karabakh war are buried. It is also known that avenues, streets, squares and some settlements throughout Azerbaijan will bear Heydar Aliyev’s name. Ex-president’s portrait will decorate bonds worth 100 thousand manats and souvenir jubilee coins.
