HEARING OF CASE OF ASSASSINATION OF NATIONAL TV AND RADIO COMPANY HEAD BEGUN IN ARMENIAN COURT OF APPEAL

Hearing of complaints of the accused on the case of the assassination of chairman of the Council of the Public TV and Radio Company Tigran Naghdalian began at the Court of Appeal on military and criminal cases of Armenia today. The sentence of the first instance court pronounced November 18 was appealed against by five defendants. These are Armen Sargsian and John Harutyunian, each sentenced to 15 years of deprivation of liberty as the one, who had ordered the crime, and the executor, as well as the accomplices – Felix Arustamian, Gegham Shahbazian and Grigor Petrosian, sentenced to various terms of deprivation of liberty. It should be noted that Armen Sargsian (brother of ex-premier Vazgen Sargsian killed in an act of terrorism in the Armenian parliament in 1999) did not admit his guilt, while John Harutyunian avowed of what he had committed. It should be reminded that Tigran Naghdalian, 36, was killed by a shot in the head next to the house of his parents December 28, 2002.
