The independence of Nagorno Karabakh and self-determination of its people is de facto recognized by the world community, however the way of the legal determination of NKR’s status should be found, chairman of the Armenian NA commission for defense issues, national security and home affairs Mher Shahgeldian told Arminfo agency. At the same time he noted that it would be naive to await any progress in the conflict settlement from the latest visit of the OSCE Minsk Group co-chairs and the Genevan meeting of Robert Kocharian and Ilham Aliyev. The deputy explained it by the fact that these two events aimed at clarification of the position of the newly elected Azeri President, who was not practically acquainted with the negotiation process on Karabakh before. M. Shahgeldian expressed hope that in the near future the negotiation process will be activated. In his words, the Minsk Group will soon introduce new proposals based on the agreements achieved by the conflicting parties. “Of course, these proposals can maintain some new nuances, however no fundamental changes are expected”, -the chairman of the parliamentary commission stated.
