There are ethnic Armenians among prisoners at correctional facilities in Azerbaijan. Representative of “Human Rights Center of Azerbaijan” Eldar Zeynalov said in the course of “International Prison Reform” seminar held in Stepanakert the other day. In his opinion, as reported by “Arminfo” agency, visits to correctional facilities often let prevent human rights violations. “The issue of monitoring prisons should not be politicized, which, unfortunately, happens,” – he stated. Let us note that representatives of human rights organizations of Azerbaijan, South Osetia, North-Caucasian republics of Russia, as well as leaders of penitentiary institutions of NKR, head of the Stepanakert office of the International Committee of the Red Cross participated in the seminar.
