ONE ARMENIAN ASPIRING HIGHEST STATE POST OF GEORGIA

The Central Electoral Commission of Georgia has registered Tbilisi resident Yuri Mkrtumian as candidate for president. As reported by “A-Info” agency, Y. Mkrtumian (born in 1966) has graduated from Tbilisi Polytechnic Institute on the specialization of hydro engineering and is now engaged in public activities. According to the source, the candidate does not master Armenian perfectly, although his children go to one of Armenian schools of Tbilisi. The agency considers it would not be out of place to note that the initiative group that has proposed Y. Mkrtumian includes two Armenians, two Russians and a Georgian. It should be reminded that the presidential election in Georgia is planned for January 4, 2004.
