Armenian foreign minister Vardan Oskanian, who is in Maastricht to participate in the forum of heads of foreign ministries of OSCE countries, yesterday met with co-chairs of the OSCE Minsk Group for settlement of the Nagorno Karabakh conflict. The mediators have reported they are going to visit the confrontation region this weekend. In their words, as reported by the press service of the foreign ministry of Armenia, with presidents of Armenia and Azerbaijan Robert Kocharian and Ilham Aliyev they intend to discuss the opportunity of resumption of direct negotiations between leaders of both states over settlement of the Karabakh problem. It should be reminded that such meetings have not been held since 2003 – due to the presidential election held in both countries. It should also be noted that in Maastricht the co-chairs met with Azeri foreign minister Vilayat Guliyev, too.
