BAKU DISPLEASED WITH AZERI HUMAN RIGHTS PROPONENT STATEMENTS

The statements of well-known Azeri human rights proponent Eldar Zeynalov on a number of issues relating to Nagorno Karabakh have caused displeasure of official Baku. The other day, as reported by “Arminfo” agency, in the course of a meeting with NKR foreign minister Ashot Gulian within a forum of non-governmental organizations in Stepanakert, E. Zeynalov noted that having been in Nagorno Karabakh in the past, he had made sure that the NKR was gradually adopting European standards, developing civil society. As thereupon noted by another Azeri human rights advocate, chairman of the Committee on Democracy and Human Rights Chingiz Ganizade, “by participation in the forum Zeynalov displayed disrespect for the memory of those killed in the Karabakh war.”
