Winner of Tata Steel Super-GM tournaments, former world chess champion Garry Kasparov expressed readiness to place a bid for the victory of either Magnus Carlsen or Levon Aronianin the starting round, giving higher estimation to their cumulative odds than that of other contenders, chess-news.ru reported .
The first round of the tournament is scheduled for January 14, in Wijk aan Zee, Netherlands, with 14 GMs to vie for the Grand Prix.
The first round board pairings have been announced as follows: Levon Aronian – Sergey Karjakin (Russia), Magnus Carlsen (Norway), – Vugar Gashimov (Azerbaijan).
