US WISH TO INCREASE NATO INFLUENCE OVER SOUTH CAUCASUS

NATO should discuss the possibility of accentuating the “Partnership for Peace” program on the South Caucasian and Middle Asian countries, as reported by Mediamax agency, US Under Secretary of State for Political Affairs Mark Grossman stated addressing the NATO Parliamentary Assembly. It should be noted that only September US Ambassador to NATO Nicholas Burns urged the necessity of expanding NATO’s influence in the South Caucasus and Middle Asia. “These counties do not share all those democratic values, we abide by in the North Atlantic Alliance, however they wish to participate in the peacemaking operations and conflict prevention in the strategic perspective. They are our partners and we should help them in this respect”, – N. Burns said.
