A group of Polish observers, who had monitored the presidential election in Azerbaijan, called the OSCE to review its evaluation of the election. According to “Turan” agency, in their statement the Polish observers note that they had witnessed gerrymander and mass violations in the course of the vote in Azerbaijan. However, persecution of opposition representatives by the authorities, especially mass arrests of oppositionist members of electoral commissions and demanding that they sign forged protocols, have caused special indignation of the observers. “Citizens of Azerbaijan had hoped that the OSCE would become a guarantee of fair election. In the reality the OSCE appeared to be involved in the process of falsifying the election,” the document says.
