TEHRAN AGAINST TURKISH TROOPS QUARTERING IN IRAQ

Tehran laid strictures on the quartering of the Turkish military contingent in Iraq expected in the near future. As Iranian MFA statement says, such a decision cannot be taken without the consent of the UN and the Iraqi people. The document also emphasizes that basing the Turkish troops will aggravate the situation in the country. To remind, the Turkish leadership has recently responded to the request of the US and adopted the resolution on sending its forces to Iraq for the stabilization of the situation in the North of the country. Kurds of Iraq as well as some members of the Governing Council of Iraq oppose such a decision.
