The European Commission has sharply criticized the presidential election held in Azerbaijan October 15. European Commission president Romano Prodi said, “the organization, course, as well as returns of the election were absolute farce: opposition candidates were not granted even the slightest opportunity to achieve fair results at the election,” “Mediamax” agency reported. Thus, in Prodi’s words, Ilham Aliyev, being elected president of Azerbaijan, can be considered “legitimate tyrant” of his country.
