ILHAM ALIYEV DECLARED ELECTED PRESIDENT

Ilham Aliyev, 41, won the presidential election held in Azerbaijan October 15, officially stated the Central Electoral Commission today. “The majority of constituents have voted for Ilham Aliyev. Thus, there will be no second round of the election. Ilham Aliyev has become president,” press secretary of the Central Electoral Commission of Azerbaijan Azer Sariyev said at a press conference in Baku. According to preliminary data, 79.5% of grassroots, who participated in the election, supported Aliyev Jr. He is followed by leader of “Musavat” party Isa Hambar, who had collected 12.6% of votes.
