US CONGRESSMEN SIGN LETTER URGING PRESIDENT BUSH TO ACKNOWLEDGE ARMENIAN GENOCIDE IN OTTOMAN TURKEY IN 1915

A congressional letter, calling on President George W. Bush to properly acknowledge the Armenian Genocide in his annual statement of remembrance April 24, has the backing of 167 Members of the US House of Representatives. As a report by the Armenian Assembly of America notes, the letter, issued today by Congressional Caucus on Armenian Issues Co-Chairs Joe Knollenberg (R-MI) and Frank Pallone, Jr. (D-NJ), garnered five more signatures than last year. Let us remind that in his commemoration statement last year, President Bush referred to the Armenian Genocide as “murder,” which was progress when compared to previous speeches.
