US TO FURTHER PAY SPECIAL ATTENTION TO SITUATION IN CAUCASUS AND CENTRAL ASIA

In contrast to Afghanistan and Iraq, we engaged in the Central Asia and Caucasus before the situation there evolved into a crisis. As reported by “Mediamax” agency, US Assistant Secretary of State for European and Eurasian Affairs Elizabeth Jones said. “We have comprehended that we should work with the governments and residents of the region to prevent security vacuum and maintain long-term stability. This first of all refers to Georgia, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan, where terrorist groupings threatened our state interests,” – the American diplomat stated. In E. Jones’ words, the US is going to continue struggle against movement of terrorist groups across the frontiers, drug transportation and mass extermination weapons in the Central Asia and Caucasus.
