EU SUPPOSES ARMENIA CONFIRMED ITS ADHERENCE TO EUROPEAN VALUES

The European Union adopted a resolution welcoming the decision of Armenian National Assembly on cancellation of death penalty in the country. “EU congratulates Armenian parliament with ratification of the 6-th protocol of the European convention on Human Rights. This step not only cancelled capital punishment in the country, but also allowed to fulfill one of the obligations undertaken for entering the Council of Europe”, – the document says. As reported by Mediamax agency according to the EU, this significant measure confirmed Armenia’s adherence to European values. “Now the EU calls Armenia to sign and ratify the 13-th protocol of the European convention providing for death penalty cancellation under any circumstances.
