RUSSIAN MEDIATOR NOT READY TO SPEAK ABOUT NEW PROPOSALS ON KARABAKH SETTLEMENT YET

Russian co-chair of the OSCE Minsk group Yuri Merzlyakov “is not ready” to speak about the content of the “new” or “modified” proposals on the Karabakh problem expected to be discussed by the mediators in Vienna September 15, the Russian diplomat stated in Yerevan after a meeting with president Robert Kocharian today. As reported by “Mediamax” agency, answering the question whether the new proposals are based on agreements the presidents of Armenia and Azerbaijan have come to in Paris and Key West in 2001, Y. Merzlyakov said, “I am not ready to disclose the essence of those proposals. I am not enough informed about the details of the proposals yet. I think, it will be better to wait for our meeting in Vienna.” The Russian co-chair noted that mediators would present new proposals in the course of their visit to the conflict region, which will probably take place in early November – after the presidential election in Azerbaijan. Commenting on the results of his meeting with the Armenian president Y. Merzlyakov said that Robert Kocharian highly appreciated the OSCE Minsk Group activities.
