The 200-th anniversary of Surb Khach Armenian memorial complex was celebrated in the Russian city of Rostov-on-Don September 9. As reported by Yerkramas, the newspaper of Armenians of South of Russia, the temple of Surb Khach, which in old times belonged to the Armenian Apostolic Church, is the most ancient construction existing in the territory of Rostov region. The temple was built by Armenian migrants from Crimea, and the first printing house of the Southern Russia founded by Iosif Argutinski was located here. A memorable khachkar as a sign of Russian-Armenian friendship was opened in the framework of the celebration with the participation of Rostov region administration representatives. The measure participants laid wreaths on the graves of Armenian writers Rafael Patkanian and Mikael Nalbandian buried in Rostov-on-Don.
