ARMENIA AND BULGARIA TO PAY MAXIMUM ATTENTION TO ECONOMIC COOPERATION

Maximum attention will be paid to expansion of economic cooperation between Armenia and Bulgaria, Armenian president Robert Kocharian said yesterday at the closing of the Armenian-Bulgarian business forum in Sofia. As reported by the press service of the president, R. Kocharian noted that he was satisfied with the results of the negotiations held with Bulgarian president Georgi Parvanov. In his opinion, the necessary contract and legal basis is created by Armenia and Bulgaria, the Armenian-Bulgarian intergovernmental commission is available, which gradually increases the volume of export trade turnover. Thus, if in 1998 the amount of the Armenian-Bulgarian trade turnover was $17.2 million, today it has exceeded $50 million. Nevertheless, the Armenian president supposes, “we should still keep building up real cooperation.” In his words, science and high technologies, food industry and agriculture, pharmaceutics can become promising fields of bilateral cooperation. It should be noted that the Armenian leader is in Bulgaria on an official call.
