JOKHAR DUDAYEV ASSOCIATE KILLED IN BAKU

On the night of September 7 Vakha Ibragimov, former close associate of first president of the unrecognized Chechen Republic of Ichkeria Jokhar Dudayev, was killed in Baku. As reported by “Echo” Baku newspaper, the most probable version is ordered assassination, the motives of which are not known yet. It is reported that in 1996 Vakha Ibragimov negotiated with “Taliban” movement leadership in Afghanistan over supplying arms and funds to Chechen fighters. The newspaper notes that it is not the first murder of eminent representatives of the Chechen Diaspora in Baku. Chechen field commander Magomed Kariyev, whom Russian authorities declared to be wanted by international police and who was hiding in Azerbaijan, was killed in 2000. In 2002 former bodyguard of Ichkeria president Aslan Maskhadov – Khizir Talkhadov was shot. Chechen fighter Magomedali Magomedov, known under the nicknames Ibrahim and Alauri, was killed the same year. None of these murders is revealed.
