The solemn consecration ceremony of the new Armenian Church of the Blessed Virgin took place in the town of Vsevolozhsk of Leningrad region of Russia. As reported by Yerkramas, the newspaper of Armenians of South of Russia, the foundation of the church was laid yet in 1998, when an initiative group headed by Saint Petersburg philanthropist Samvel Movsisian purchased the land for building. All the major construction woks have been accomplished this summer. Acting governor of Saint Petersburg Alexander Beglov, who took part in the ceremony, emphasized during his speech that the opening of the Armenian Church is one of recurrent steps on the path to development and consolidation of friendly relations between Saint Petersburg, Leningrad region and Armenia.
