Argentine David Nalbandian knocked out French No. 2 seed Gilles Simon 6-3, 6-2 in 68 minutes to reach 2012 Brasil Open quarterfinal.
Simon was unable to capitalise on his five break points while Nalbandian went four for seven on his chances, atpworldtour.com reports.
Nalbandian faced five break points but saved each of them, while converting four of seven opportunities offered by Simon.
"I kept focused from the beginning, that was key, it made everything easier," Nalbandian said.
