GEORGIA INTENDS TO RAISE QUESTION ABOUT RESTRUCTURING ITS DEBT TOWARD ARMENIA

Georgia is going to raise the question about restructuring its debt amounting in $20 million toward Armenia at the sitting of the CIS States Economic Council that opened today in Moscow. Armenian official persons pointing out not only economic but also political implication of this fact refused to comment on the present initiative of the Georgian leadership. It should be noted that Georgia intends to raise the question of its debt not only to Armenia but also to Russia ($159 million) and Azerbaijan ($17 million). Experts note that if the creditors do not agree to restructure the debt Georgia will be driven to the verge of bankruptcy.
