The other day chairman of the Saint Petersburg Legislative Assembly Vadim Tyulpanov received permanent representative of Nagorno Karabakh in Armenia Arman Melikian being on a working visit in Saint Petersburg. As reported by the NKR MFA press service, in the course of the meeting A. Melikian acquainted Saint Petersburg parliament head with the political and economic situation in NKR as well as with the process of forming the State system and democratization of the society during the period following conclusion of armistice with Azerbaijan in 1994 giving special consideration to the issues of the economic development of NKR as well as the possible investments in Karabakh economy. A. Melikian pointed out development of travel industry in NKR as one of the most prospective spheres of possible investments. The parties agreed in opinions regarding the necessity of developing contacts between Saint Petersburg and Nagorno Karabakh and emphasized the both sides’ adherence to the democratic values and the principles of constructing a jural society. The NKR permanent representative handed to the head of Saint Petersburg parliament Nagorno Karabakh president Arkadi Ghukasian’s dispatch in which NKR leader expressed his gratitude to Saint Petersburg representatives and first of all to the deputies for backing Karabakh people in their desire to live freely and independently.
