In compliance with a decree of Syrian president Bashar al-Asad Armenian ambassador to Syria Levon Sargsian is awarded order “For Services” of first degree. As reported by the press service of the Armenian foreign ministry, it is the highest award handed to foreigners in Syria. At the awarding ceremony held December 27 in the Syrian foreign ministry deputy foreign minister Walid Mualim appreciated L. Sargsian’s irreproachable work during the long-term diplomatic service in Damask. He emphasized the order is awarded to those leaders of diplomatic representations of foreign states, who have made a considerable contribution to the cause of development of Syria’s friendly relations with other countries.
