The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) today confirmed information that its officer – Canadian of Armenian descent Vache Aslanian – was tragically killed in Baghdad. According to a ICRC press release, V. the body of Aslanian, who was being considered missing since the latter half of April 8, was found by his colleagues in Baghdad April 9. According to ICRC data, the car, in which Aslanian was along with other organization officers, appeared under cross-fire. Today a mourning day is announced in the International Red Cross representation in Baghdad. At present the organization assesses the situation in Baghdad to determine the issue of its further presence in Iraq.
