ARMENIAN-TURKISH COOPERATION COMMISSION CO-CHAIR CALLED ANKARA TO LIFT BLOCKADE OF ARMENIAN FRONTIER

Co-chair of the Armenian-Turkish commission on cooperation Kaan Soyak addressed a European Parliament conference a call to open the Armenian-Turkish frontier. As reported by “Arminfo” agency, the conference was devoted to the 10-th anniversary of Turkey’s blocking of the Armenian frontier. K. Soyak noted a number of evident dividends the countries of the region, first of all Turkey and Armenia, would gain in case of lifting the blockade. In his words, the economic crisis increased in East Turkey due to impossibility of frontier trade with neighboring countries, and Armenia’s loss due to the blockade makes 30-40% of the national produce. Representatives of EU institutions, diplomatic representations of Armenia, Turkey and Azerbaijan participated in the conference.
