The Council of Democrat Armenians of US has supported presidential contender Senator John Kerry, representing the Democratic Party. In the words of organization members, during 20 years J. Kerry has contributed to solution of problems of concern to the Armenian community, specifically, in the cause of recognition of the Armenian Genocide in Ottoman Turkey and US providing assistance to Armenia. Council representatives participated in two pre-election meetings of the candidate last week. As noted by Asbarez newspaper being issued in the US, the Senator was one of the first to second the resolution on recognition of the Armenian Genocide introduced before the Congress.
