STUDENTS OF PASADENA COLLEGES TO BEGIN STUDYING HISTORY OF ARMENIAN GENOCIDE IN OTTOMAN TURKEY

Beginning with April 2004 the senior students of Pasadena colleges will study a special course of the history of the Armenian Genocide in Ottoman Turkey. As reported by the Armenian National Committee of America (ANCA), a whip-round for the fund for contribution to the program of the studying of the Armenian Genocide was organized in Pasadena the other day. According to the source, a special section dedicated to one of the outrageous mass crimes of the 20-th century will be included in the History textbooks for the senior classes. A specific program has been already produced to the Pasadena directorate for education. By the decision of the directorate, corresponding courses for teachers will be organized in March. ANCA expressed hope that courses of the kind will be arranged in other Californian cities, where Armenians reside. “Forgotten past is very dangerous. One should remember it to prevent analogous tragedies in future”, the project initiators noted.
