Serbia has been selected to stage the UEFA Futsal EURO 2016 finals in its capital city Belgrade, the UEFA Executive Committee announced at its meeting in Istanbul on March 21, uefa.com reports.
The bid from the Football Association of Serbia (FSS) was selected ahead of others from the Bulgarian Football Union (BFS) and the Football Federation of the Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia (FFM). The proposed venues are the 6,000-seater Pionir Arena and the 18,386-capacity Belgrade Arena but details are to be confirmed, with the event in principle to be played in early 2016.
The UEFA Executive Committee awarded the organization of the 2015 UEFA European Under-21 Championship to the Czech Republic, while youth competition hosts were approved as follows: UEFA European Under-19 Championship: Hungary (2014), Greece (2015) and Germany (2016), UEFA European Under-17 Championship: Malta (2014), Bulgaria (2015) and Azerbaijan (2016), UEFA European Women's Under-19 Championship: Norway (2014), Israel (2015) and Slovakia (2016), and UEFA European Women's Under-17 Championship: England (2014), Iceland (2015) and Belarus (2016).
