Armenian official: Turkey can’t joint EU unless it recognizes Genocide

Moral component plays a vital role in Armenian Genocide recognition issue, head of the Civil Union international organization said.

“Turkish accession to the EU is impossible without recognition of the fact of the crime against humanity. Turkey is obliged to recognize the Armenian Genocide,” Analitika.at.ua quoted Armen Martirosian as saying during a roundtable on “Armenian Genocide: Impunity generates relapse.”

On April 13, Kyiv hosted the roundtable that featured a screening of a film titled “Ordinary Genocide: Maragha, April 10, 1992,” released by the Public Relations and Information Center at RA President's Administration.

The event brought together prominent Ukrainian political analysts, scientists, journalists, public and political figures, representatives of the Cossacks.

The roundtable also included a discussion of the text of the address to Ukraine’s President Viktor Yanukovych and Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada Volodymyr Lytvyn with a request to recognize April 24 as Armenian Genocide Remembrance Day on a legislative level.
