Jerusalem University hosts symposium on Armenian Genocide

Chair of Armenian Studies of Jerusalem University hosted a symposium and commemoration of victims of Armenian Genocide in the Ottoman Empire on April 22.

The event started with Bible reading from Ezekiel book in Hebrew and Armenian languages; then Archbishop Aris Shirvanian of Jerusalem's Armenian Patriarchate gave a welcoming speech.

Tsolag Momjian, Consul of the Republic of Armenia in Jerusalem presented his “Genocide, Minorities and Memories” report. Head of the desk of Minority Affairs department at the Ministry of Public Security Mordechai Zaken spoke on “The Armenian Orphan Rug"”.

Momjian also briefed the participants on the Knesset Educational Committee Hearing on Armenian Genocide Recognition.

Yael Stein and Tamar Pileggi of the Jerusalem Center for Genocide Prevention presented a report entitled “Combating Genocide: What we do Today to Prevent It".

Jerusalem University’s Armenian Studies Chair organizes annual events dedicated to April 24 memorial day of Armenian Genocide, while Jerusalem’s Hai Dat office holds nation-wide actions on April 24 urging Israel to recognize the Armenian Genocide.
