On May 23, the Europalia International Arts Festival selected Turkey as the guest country for 2015.
The festival will showcase Turkish arts for several months in the fall of 2015, Paris-based journalist Jean Eckian reported.
With a budget of euro 7 million, Europalia is a major international arts festival held every two years to celebrate one invited country’s cultural heritage. Since 1969, Europalia has organized some twenty-two festivals. Each has turned the spotlight on one culture in a comprehensive program of music, fine arts, photography, cinema, theatre, dance, literature, architecture, design, fashion, gastronomy.
Among the founders are the National Bank of Belgium, the European Parliament and the Council of Europe, despite the recognition of the Armenian Genocide in 1987 for one and 1998.
