Russia unveils map of its peacekeeping posts in Karabakh

16 observation posts will be set up along the line of contact in the Nagorno-Karabakh and along the Lachin corridor linking Armenia and Karabakh, according to Sergei Rudskoy, Chief of the Main Operations Directorate of the General Staff of the Russian Armed Forces.

The Russian Defense Ministry has also unveiled a map of where the Russian peacekeeping contingent is going to be deployed.

The posts, Rudskoy said, "are entrusted with the task of collecting information on ceasefire violations, promptly bringing this information to the command of the peacekeeping forces, as well as maintaining the safety of transit traffic and suppressing illegal actions against civilians."

“This will contribute to an early transition to a peaceful life and the return of refugees,” Rudskoy said.

He added that the observation posts of the peacekeepers are planned to be deployed from November 12 to ensure the safety of civilians in the southern part of the zone of responsibility, where active hostilities were going on two days ago.

A total of 1960 Russian peacekeepers will deployed in the region.

Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, Russian and Azerbaijani Presidents Vladimir Putin and Ilham Aliyev have signed a deal to end the war in Karabakh after 44 days. Karabakh (Artsakh) President Arayik Harutyunyan said on Tuesday that he has agreed to the deal signed by Armenia, Russia and Azerbaijan.
