The Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) should not ignore the aggressive ambitions of Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev towards Armenia, Secretary of the Security Council Armen Grigoryan said at a meeting of the Committee of Secretaries of the CSTO Security Councils in Dushanbe.
Grigoryan reminded Aliyev's statement, claiming that "if Armenia does not provide Azerbaijan with a corridor to Nakhijevan through the Syunik province, then Azerbaijan will achieve it by force."
"This is neither more nor less than a direct threat to the territorial integrity of a CSTO member state, and such demarches should not be ignored, especially given the aggressive aspirations of the Azerbaijani president," Grigoryan noted.
"I believe our Organization should express an unambiguous position regarding any encroachment on the territory of any of the CSTO member states."
The Secretary of the Security Council is on a working trip to Dushanbe. On April 28, he held bilateral talks with his Russian counterpart Nikolai Patrushev. Grigoryan will hold bilateral meetings in Russia on April 29-30.
