The advance team of European Union monitors is arriving in Yerevan on Friday, October 14, EU Special Representative for South Caucasus and the Crisis in Georgia Toivo Klaar said on Twitter.
“The 27 Member States have acted rapidly to respond to [Armenia’s] request,” Klaar said.
“The aim of the [EU] deployment will be to monitor the situation and support [Armenia-Azerbaijan] stabilisation on the ground.”
The decision to deploy a civilian mission was reached at a meeting between the leaders of Armenia, Azerbaijan, France and the European Union.
