Erdogan sees “no problems with Zangezur corridor” through Armenia

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has said that he sees “no problems” regarding the Zangezur “corridor”, Anadolu Agency reports.

Azerbaijan and Turkey have on multiple occasions raised the question about the Zangezur "corridor" through the southern Armenian province of Syunik that would connect Nakhijevan to the rest of Azerbaijan. The Armenian side, however, has repeatedly denied being involved in negotiations for the provision of a corridor to Azerbaijan, stressing that they have only agreed to unblock transport communications in the region.

Erdogan told reporters on the presidential plane returning from a trip to Kazakhstan that he held talks with Armenian Premier Nikol Pashinyan on the sidelines of an EU summit in the Czech capital Prague last week and that they also held inter-delegation meetings.

Turkey and Armenia have been engaged in talks on normalizing ties.

"Regarding the Zangezur corridor, I do not see any problems," he stressed, referring to a planned route through Armenian territory to connect Azerbaijan and its exclave of Nakhijevan.
