The Parliament of Nagorno Karabakh (Artsakh) on Wednesday, June 28 adopted a statement calling on Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan to immediately stop negotiations with his Azerbaijani counterpart Jeyhun Bayramov in Washington, after four soldiers were killed in Azerbaijan’s artillery and drone attack.
“The armed forces of Azerbaijan, once again grossly violated the ceasefire established by the trliteral statement of November 9, 2020 in Nagorno-Karabakh, opened fire from various weapons in the direction of the territory of the Republic of Artsakh on the night of June 27-28, resulting in the death of 4 of our compatriots,” the statement reads.
“Under the conditions of the total blockade of Artsakh by Azerbaijan, the murder of citizens of the Republic of Artsakh with the use of artillery and UAVs indicates that the military-political leadership of this republic (Azerbaijan – Ed), ignoring the calls and decisions of international authoritative structures, under the guise of fictitious agendas of peace and dialogue, with its genocidal through its actions, it seeks to achieve its main goal with the use of military, political, economic mechanisms: the final expulsion of Armenians from Artsakh.
“Delegations of the Republic of Armenia in talks in Washington: immediately stop the ongoing negotiations – until a full-fledged ceasefire is established on the line of contact with Artsakh and on the borders of the Republic of Armenia and the provision of documented guarantees of its observance. Otherwise, the continuation of negotiations will mean the encouragement of the aggressive behavior of the Azerbaijani side and privilege at the international level.”
