Karabakh urges Armenia to be careful with statements

Nagorno-Karabakh (Artsakh) President Arayik Harutyunyan has urged Armenian authorities to be more careful with their statements regarding the fate of Nagorno-Karabakh.

Harutyunyan said that Karabakh will continue the struggle for self-determination, and called on the Armenian authorities to be careful in their statements on the recognition of the territorial integrity of Azerbaijan.

"No country can deprive us of the right to self-determination. I urge the Armenian authorities to be more careful in their statements. The right to self-determination is an international norm, our right, which we still use today," Harutyunyan said at a press conference on Monday, answering a question from Interfax.

He noted that regardless of any statements, Nagorno-Karabakh "will continue the struggle for self-determination."

Earlier, the Armenian authorities said they recognize the territorial integrity of Azerbaijan, including Nagorno-Karabakh.

The President also noted that he was ready for a dialogue with Baku, which "should also take into account our rights and be conducted on the principle of equality."

Harutyunyan stated that the Lachin corridor connecting Nagorno-Karabakh with Armenia should be unblocked to prevent a humanitarian catastrophe and enable food delivery, but at the same time opposed Azerbaijan's proposal to deliver food from Baku along the Barda-Aghdam road.

He noted that the Russian peacekeepers deployed in Nagorno-Karabakh also have difficulties in providing food, and "they also use our meager food reserves."
