Russia wants clarity over Pashinyan’s security remarks

Moscow expects to obtain information about what Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan meant when he spoke about the need to “diversify relations in the security sector”, Kremlin Press Secretary Dmitry Peskov told reporters on Wednesday, October 25, TASS reports.

In an interview with The Wall Street Journal published by the Armenian government earlier on Wednesday, Pashinyan said that the events in the Nagorno -Karabakh "essentially brought" Yerevan to the decision on the need տօ "diversify relations in the field of security."

The Kremlin representative noted that Moscow is not inclined to rely on interviews in The Wall Street Journal.

“We need to understand exactly what Mr. Pashinyan was talking about. In a conversation with our Armenian friends, we expect to receive all the information on this matter,” Peskov said.

“And, of course, it is not good for Russia and Armenia to communicate through newspapers, especially The Wall Street Journal. Therefore, we continue the conversation, dialogue with our Armenian friends, and we will continue to do this, we have a very broad agenda,” he said.
