The newly-appointed U.S. Ambassador to Baku Mark W. Libby and Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov on Friday, December 15 discussed the prospects for the normalization between Armenia and Azerbaijan.
Bayramov maintained that “Azerbaijan is interested in establishing peace and stability in the region.”
Yerevan and Baku signed a statement on December 7 and exchanged prisoners of war days later.
“The Republic of Armenia and the Republic of Azerbaijan will continue their discussions regarding the implementation of more confidence building measures, effective in the near future and call on the international community to support their efforts that will contribute to building mutual trust between two countries and will positively impact the entire South Caucasus region,” the statement added.
