Lavrov, Fidan discuss cooperation in South Caucasus

Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov, speaking at a joint press conference following talks with his Turkish counterpart Hakan Fidan, stated that the meeting addressed the situation in the South Caucasus, according to Turkish media reports.

According to Lavrov, the discussion focused on ways to expand bilateral cooperation in the region.

"We paid special attention to strengthening mutual trust, restoring infrastructure and transport links, and joint activities within the '3+3' cooperation platform in the South Caucasus," the Russian foreign minister emphasized.

Lavrov added that the talks with Fidan were generally very productive.

On January 31, Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan stated at a press conference that Armenia had made clear proposals to Azerbaijan regarding the unblocking of regional transport routes and was awaiting a response. According to him, the most cost-effective and realistic option is the Megrhi railway route connecting Azerbaijan to Nakhchivan. He also suggested a railway link from Yeraskh through Nakhchivan to Meghri and vice versa.
