Georgia closely follows Armenia-Azerbaijan dialogue

Georgia is closely following the ongoing dialogue between Armenia and Azerbaijan, Foreign Minister Maka Bochorishvili said during a joint press conference with her Azerbaijani counterpart Jeyhun Bayramov, reports 1tv.ge.

Bochorishvili stated that Georgia is genuinely interested in fostering peace and stability in the region.

“We’ve always said, and I repeat today: Georgia is sincerely interested in strengthening peace and stability in our region. We were pleased to host the April 17 trilateral meeting. This was the first meeting in such a format, where deputy ministers from the three countries gathered in Tbilisi to discuss regional issues. We believe there is potential to continue cooperation in this trilateral format among our countries,” she said.

Bochorishvili stressed that current developments in the region are of high importance and highlighted the significance of cooperation and partnership between the countries. “Given the current geopolitical situation and considering Georgia and Azerbaijan’s interests, we see an opportunity to expand regional cooperation and more effectively harness our joint potential.”

On July 10, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan and Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev met in Abu Dhabi to discuss various aspects of normalizing interstate relations. Both sides reaffirmed that bilateral negotiations are the most effective format for addressing all relevant issues and agreed to continue results-oriented dialogue. The meeting lasted five hours.
